According to the mission statement on its web page the channel has the following aims:[2]
In October 2010 Ofcom criticised the Ummah Channel for broadcasting three interactive programmes before and after the Lahore massacre of Ahmadi Muslims in May 2010, in which the religious leaders and callers alike said Ahmadis should be killed. These programmes were repeated several times. Ofcom stated that the channel breached broadcasting regulations concerning the abusive treatment of the religious views and beliefs of members of the Ahmadiyya community. Ahmadis are considered heretical by many Muslims and have faced persecution since the founding of the religious movement by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.[3][4][5]
